Man of the Month: November 2011

This month's man of the month is:

Griffin from Emblaze by Jessica Shirvington

Griffin has never been a huge character in this series for me but in this book although he once again didn't play a huge part, was there for Violet in a way no one else was. Griffin acted more like a mentor in this book than ever and that understanding of how Violet was feeling and not expecting her to be strong all the time made me fall absolutely in love with him.

Although Griffin is physically only in his twenties, but for me, everytime I think of him I think of him as:
His leadership combined with the maturity and general control of his character always leaves me with an older looking picture of him in my mind. It was actually quite hard to settle on what I imagined him to look like, he is one of those characters that has a voice and a face in the story when you're reading, but outside of the book I can hear the voice but I just can't see the face, yet he's such a delectable character.

Dick Cheney from Nice Girls Don't Date Dead Men by Molly Harper

Dick provides comedic relief in the Jane Jameson series peiod but I thought he also showed his softer side toward Jane in Nice Girls Don't Date Dead Men, which I found even more enchanting. When I think Dick though I don't think:

For some reason, I think:

Perhaps a little shorter though, and in a ripped t-shirt...but you get the basic picture...

I suppose it would be because in essence, they play the same part of the lovable evil guy. When I think Dick I think Eric, but shorter. Dick is a rascal in every way, he earns his money under shady dealings and always has a witty quip to keep Jane on her toes, and he references how good he is in bed...a lot. Inevitable really, I love both characters, so I may aswell make them similar to each other.

Man of the Month: June 2011

This month's man of the month is:

Laylen from The Fallen Star!

Laylen was probably the only character I liked in The Fallen Star and even though the fact that he was a vampire who cooked eggs for girls detracted from his charm, I still wanted him as this months Man of the Month. He is a down to earth "good" vampire only thankfully...he doesn't sparkle.

For somme reason though every time I thought of Laylen I thought of him like this:

Richmond the goth from The IT Crowd.

Even though Noel Fielding (Richmond) is way funnier, it was his head and his voice as Richmond that I kept hearing everytime Laylen spoke, which wasn't much anyway.

Phoenix from Embrace!
Phoenix is the slightly evil but totally sexy exiled angel from Embrace. As soon as he was introduced, I fell completely head over heels for him, but I didn't want to. The exact same happened to Violet. Of the two boys in Embrace I adored Phoenix, regardless of his bad boy nature, it just adds to his charm.

When I think Phoenix, with his wild hair and put together appearance I think:

That's right...Penn Badgely. Not quite Penn Badgely, but very close. Add the wild multi-coloured shimmering hair and a bit more bad boy, and you have Phoenix.

Typical bad boy leather jacket, definitely an in with me.

And his cheekier side, which always appears when he is teasing Violet about wanting to kiss him.

So there you have it, this months favourite man is Phoenix from Embrace.

Man of the Month: February 2011

Anyan from Tempest's Legacy!

Anyan is a Barghest. Which basically means he can turn into a dog or a hell-hound on command. Anyan is everything a man should be in a series like Jane True's. He is protective but lenient, he teaches willingly and is patient. He cares for Jane and can tell what she wants and even if he doesn't know he will always listen to her.

Anyan is perfect in more ways than one. He is powerful, sexy and smells nice...and you get a two in one boyfriend and doggie deal!

Anyan is described as big, lean, built, sexy, dark haired, dark eyed and yummy. But this is how I see him:

With a bit of this:

And a bit of this for good measure:
Johnny Depp's smile is a secret one, just like Anyan's. Take Hugh Jackman's body (think X-Men/Wolverine) and that guy in the middle to add a bit of anonymity (because Anyan is his own person too) and think about what these three would look like merged...

ANYAN!

Carter from Succubus Blues!

Carter is an Angel who is friends with the demon characters of Succubus Blues. In the beginning he was untrustworthy and was suggested as the culprit behind the murders of the local immortals. But as we got to know him Carter in my mind became a beautiful, caring character who completely lived up to his Angel status. He may not have been chummy with Georgina but he showed he cared by helping her numerous times, saving her life and helping to save her boyfriends mind. If I had a choice of the plethora of characters given to us I would choose the kind but snarky, antagonistic Carter.

Carter is described as blonde and looking a little bit like a bum. But this is how I see him:

Barney Stinson...but with Carter's voice which was a different tone, and maybe with more of a beard. But I always had a slightly more filled out version of Barney in my head everytime Carter came on the scene.
