I was looking through some of my growing TBR pile the other day and there were a few books that I was completely baffled as to why I originally bought them. Most of the time I can remember the thought process into buying each of my books. Whether it be blogasphere hype or long standing interest or for book clubs but there are a few admittedly that I look at and think:
"What on earth possesed me to buy this?!"
Naturally as I sit down to write this post I am completely blank about which book it was but there are a definite few that I seemed to have bought blindly, ones that even now I'm not interested in and can't even remember a time when I was.
Does this ever happen to you? Do you seemingly get caught up in a spending spree and come away with books that you had never really contemplating buying before you went in?
Hopefully it was a sign that these select few were sent to me and that they will be quite entertaining to read but even so, it's going to take an odd day for me to actually pull them out of my wall and start on them...

All the time! I recently went through my massive pile of TBR YAs and donated 60 to my school media center. All the books about zombies went. Zombies? I don't do zombies! Dead and rotting is just not attractive to me. Whatever possessed me to buy them in the first place?
Oh yeah. I mean there are some I'll forget completely--I'll remember buying it, but as far as why...:shrugs: and some I'll remember why I bought it but not when I did!
This happens a lot more often when I got book sale/used bookstore hopping then anywhere else. I can't turn down a book when it looks interesting and is only fifty cents!
I only tend to do that at library sales. Especially if I've never read the author, but otherwise I make my selections very carefully. ^_^
I buy books all the time, and recently, I went through my TBR monstrosity and I was left scratching my head, I don't know why I purchased some of my books, and I know I'll probably never read them. So, my next trip to the library will be a lucrative one for them. They love seeing me come into the library baring books! We live in a small town, I've donated quite a few...
Dottie :)
Yep, seem to be doing it more and more now that I keep a running list of books I want on Amazon. My wish list has all types of books that look interesting or that I've heard about online. Occasionally I go through the list and get a little delete happy, but when I don't I end up with books that make me scratch my head.
I have two bookshelves for this exact reason, a must-reads and another shelf of leftovers.
It works well for me :)
All the time ... sometimes I guess it's due to being deprived of new reads for too long and sometimes my tastes just change between buying and reading it :-)
