Question of the Week: Paperbacks differing from hardcovers?

Books for thought is hosted by Eleni at La Femme Readers
These are my answers to the questions she asks.

Question: What do you think about the publisher's choice to sometimes change a hardcover's cover when it comes out in paperback?

My Answer: It doesn't really bother me because I buy all of my books in paperback anyway. It kind of annoys me when the hardcover is prettier though. But I always get different covers anyway because I am Aussie and I buy mostly UK which is generally the same as here anyway.

I am a strict paperback only girl because hardcovers are freaking EXPENSIVE and I don't want to sell my soul just for a prettier cover or better quality book. Australia is a rip-off for sure.

I think australia is a paperback country anyway...I rarely see hardcovers for sale here unless the book doesn't come any other way..

I rarely buy a real paperback, except for the quality edition. I want my cover to be EXACTLY as the one for the hard cover version of the book.

Wow, fair enough :) I like all my covers to match but I have to think about what is most cost effective :)
