Question: What is your opinion on weird character names? (i.e. Renesmee, Katniss, Po, etc.). Love them or loathe them?
(Question credit goes to: Colleen from The Story Inventory)
Answer: They don't bother me, especially when they fit the story. If everyone else has a normal name and then you come out with something weird just for the sake of it (Renesmee anyone?) that kind of annoys me but really, it's not like you've known these people their whole lives and all of sudden they come out with this weird name...it's the only thing you've ever known them as.

Yup, me too. They don't really bother me, though it's better if whatever weird name it is, is neither too long or difficult to remember.
For me it depends on the book and the character. If it's set in the future then it's fine. If they're a fairy/vampire/other supernatural being then sure go ahead. If it suits the character then ok ... basically, if there's a reason for a weird name then it doesn't bug me but if it's weird for the sake of being weird then yeah, I often get irritated by it - especially if I can't pronounce it in my head lol
Weird names don't really bother me. But there's one exception. If I don't know how to pronounce them it bothers me a bit but I learn to get along with them :)
They can't bother me because it seems like all the books I read lately have different character names! It's starting to be that names like Michael are different :) But no they don't really bother me unless the spelling is super goofy because it might through me off a bit.
