YOU CAN RUN FROM THE GRAVE, BUT YOU CAN’T HIDE...

Half-Vampire Cat Crawfield is now special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She’s still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her, but when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind.

Being around him awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline kick of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head – wanted; dead or half-alive – means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard she tries to keep things professional between them; she’ll find that desire lasts forever...and that Bones won’t let her get away again.

My thoughts:

Once again I was either laughing or on edge. Frost is a remarkable story teller. This instalment of Cat and Bones is set four years on from the end of the first book. Once again we are thrown straight into the thick of things right from page one.

Cat left Bones to protect him, and she’s feeling the repercussions of what she’s done, Cat hasn’t been in a relationship since Bones, she’s thrown herself into her work. We have the introduction of Tate, Juan, Dave and Denise.

Tate is Cats closest teammate she thinks of him as a best friend and treats him as such, pity Tate doesn’t feel the same way...he’s in love with her.

Juan is a crack-up, he is a Spanish Bones only much more public (if that’s even possible where Bones is concerned) and much more obvious about his intentions (once again if that’s even possible).

Dave is like a brother to Cat, he is her second and he is one of those guys you wish you had as a friend to turn to.

Cat is basically one of the boys when it comes to her team and it makes for very funny training room predicaments when the boys are groaning about her continuously beating them.

Denise is introduced as Cat’s best friend, she and Cat have been there for each other for the past three years which is new for Cat, as it is her first real friend, who is a girl.

In the first book Bones said to Cat “If you run, I will catch you”. I love Bones, not only is he completely swoon worthy, he is also a man of his word. Bones doesn’t bluff, if Bones says he’ll find you, he will find you. And if you’re threatened by him, you better know how to run, and fast.

Frost has us strapped in for another rollercoaster ride, one which I want to ride continuously.
As with Halfway to the Grave, One Foot in the Grave is an adult book that is expertly written, in every way.
It is a must read that will have you hooked from the first page and not being able to stop thinking about it even after you have put it down.
5 stars
